For the diver, what she does and what she loves are two separate things. What she does comes at the cost of what she loves. She loves diving. This love demands an uncomfortable amount of self belief, perseverance and emotional investment.
Insecure as she is, she does what she loves in isolation. In this way, the diver represents the things we truly love, but rarely get to, because we are so consumed by what we do.
As a brand new animation studio in the industry Batch prioritised launching itself as a studio delivering purposeful and high quality work.
This set the wheels in motion and the small skeleton team spent 18 months, writing, illustrating and animating a short film. The purpose of the film was to ensure that Batch is taken seriously, noticed and a heavy player in the motion industry.
To this day, the Diver is still a seminal piece the studio is known for and frequently referenced by clients. The film has gathered gloabl noteriety, won awards and has been showcased at 9 film festivals around the globe since it's launch in 2018.
